

John Robert Watts, born September 7, 1920, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at home surrounded by his family and friends. He is the last leaf on his family tree. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Esther (Gygi) Watts and mother, Lena Watts. He graduated from Old North High School in 1938. He began work at the Farm Bureau and later retired as an executive with Nationwide Insurance following 40 years of service. Esther and Bob were happy travelers, with 25 trips to Europe and over 50 cruises. They traveled twice around the world by air and by ship, with visits to Russia, China, South America, as well as the United States and Canada. Bob was a veteran of U.S. Army, serving in Alaska during World War II. Bob was a life-long member of Maynard Avenue United Methodist Church and a friend to St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church. Survived by nephew, David (Sheila) Hughes and good friends, Barbara Clegg and Joyce Pike. Special thanks to caregiver, Christina Adjei and Grace Hospice for the loving care shown to Bob. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where friends may call from 12 noon-1:00 pm Monday. Rev. Patricia Wagner officiating. Entombment to follow at Amaranth Abbey, beside his mother Lena and wife Esther.
