Joseph Daniel Gilbert, age 29, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on September 30th, 2023. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Genevieve and Wallace Hoyer, June Gilbert, and his beloved Aunt Marsha Linden. Survived by his parents John and Kate Gilbert, his siblings Johnny Gilbert, Jason (Michelle) Gilbert, Alison (Joe) Dragovich, and Nick Gilbert; his nieces and nephews Wes, Lauren, James, Simon, and June; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his treasured cousin Jarrod Herbert.
Joseph was deeply passionate about film, video games, music, and the pursuit of knowledge. He loved to share all that he knew with the people he loved. Joseph spent an extraordinary amount of time with his mother, who he was closest to in this world. The two of them spent countless hours sharing their interests together. Joseph loved all animals, but especially his dog Lucy. They shared a bond like no other. Joseph was so quick witted and so funny. He made everyone laugh all of the time. Nothing was ever so serious that you couldn’t joke about it. His sense of humor and love will be so deeply missed.
Family will accept friends on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm at Advantage by Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus OH. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6th, 2023 at 10:00am at the same location. Interment will follow at Blendon Cemetery.
