Joseph Palombi

Joseph Palombi, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 17, 2021. He was born July 20, 1934 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Samuel and Carmen (Vaccarino) Palombi. Joe married Donna Smith on July 23, 1955. He was a veteran of the US Army and Army Reserve. Joe worked most of his life in Columbus, Ohio as a computer programmer, retiring after many years of service with AEP Company.

Joe loved to travel. His favorite places to visit were Florida and the mountains of Tennessee. After retirement from AEP, Joe enjoyed working at the Gillie Senior Center. He also enjoyed cooking, watching westerns, and listening to gospel music, as well as spending time with his friends at the Senior Center. He especially enjoyed creating wood carvings for his friends and family and was also known to create a diamond painting or two.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Donna, his parents, his sister, Diana Mentz-Godfrey and his brother, Anthony T. Palombi.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberly (David) Becker, of Coldwater, MI, Lisa Miller of Coldwater, MI, and Scott (Jennifer) Palombi of Troy, OH; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a sister, Anita Dober of Sistersville, WV, and special friend, Joanne Adams.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, OH, with an informal remembrance held around 2:40 pm. A private entombment will take place at Kingwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joe's honor to the Gillie Senior Center, 2100 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43229.
