

Joseph E. (Dick) Pequignot, age 85, of Dublin, OH, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010. He was born to the late Ervin and Marie (Hartmeier) Pequignot in Willowdell, OH on September 6, 1924. Dick went to school in Versailles and Greenville where he excelled in basketball earning a scholarship to Miami University. World War II intervened, and Dick joined the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He made combat parachute jumps at Normandy on D-Day June 6, 1944, and in Holland on September 17, 1944 during Operation Market Garden. After his return to Ohio, Dick went to work for United Telephone Company, and retired in 1987 as Division Commercial Manager. Dick was a scratch golfer, and enjoyed recent years as a golf ranger at Shamrock Golf Club in Powell. Dick is survived by his forever love, Carolyn Yule; a son, Mark Pequignot, two daughters, Cathy (Mark) Cherrington, Jill(Leon) Saul; two granddaughters, Nicole(Dave) Hartsock and Kelli (Nathan) Jagger; two grandsons, Mark and Nathan Saul; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie (Bob) Sink; two brothers, John (Alma) Pequignot, and Bob Pequignot, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Saint Brigid of Kildare Eucharist Chapel, 7179 Avery Rd., Dublin, OH Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11am. Graveside services will be at St.Valbert’s Catholic Cemetery in Versailles, OH, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11am.
