

Judith Sachs Sutro, age 91 of Hilliard, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Judith was born on September 12, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clifford David Sachs and Dorothy Chrystal (Blackwood) Sachs. Also preceding her in death were her husbands Paul McIntosh VanDyke and Peter John Sutro; brother David Blackwood Sachs; niece Susan Sachs DeLeon; and son-in-law Terry Lee Moore. Judith began her professional career as a teacher at Fornof Elementary School. She loved to read and was quite the historian on early American History, and had an eye for interior decorating and design. She was a member of the Lady Lions Organization and First Community Church. She loved to work with kids and after her retirement she worked with the latchkey program in Upper Arlington. Judith will be deeply missed by her loving sister Marilyn Chrystal Buchanan of Michigan City, IN; children Pamela VanDyke Merrell (Dr. James Merrell), Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Jeffrey Bernard Sutro (Janet Sutro), Lynnwood, WA, Paul McIntosh VanDyke (Patti VanDyke), Stockbridge, GA, Enid Dennison LaPrairie Sutro, Alexandria, LA, Jeffrey David VanDyke (Barbara VanDyke), Holly Springs, NC, Sharon Sutro Moore, Columbus, Ohio, and Holly Sutro LaLonde, Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Paige Merrell DeWalt (Dr. Mark DeWalt), David James Merrell (Megan Merrell), Darcy Merrell Skaggs (Shawn Skaggs), Dr. Bethany Alice Sutro, Katelyn VanDyke Hopkins (Joshua Hopkins), Karie VanDyke Pepmiller (William Pepmiller), Mandy LaPrairie, Sean Sutro, Lindsay VanDyke Cassler (Matthew Cassler), Dr. Shannon VanDyke, Laura Sutro Moore, Samuel Moffat Moore, Andrew Lee Moore, Roger Jacob Moore and Peter Bernard LaLonde; great-grandchildren Laine Merrell Dewalt, Peyton Carol Dewalt, Emerson Paige Dewalt, Calan Michel Dewalt, Carson James Dewalt, Jane Abigail Merrell, James Benson Merrell, Beau William Merrell, Katherine Paige Merrell, Harper Ann Skaggs, Connor James Hopkins, Kyleigh Brooke Hopkins, Camden Paul Hopkins, Abbie Leigh Pepmiller, Archer Weaver Pepmiller, Kylee LaPrairie, Brody VanDyke Cassler, and Jax Matthew Cassler; nieces Leigh Sachs Beal (Thomas Beal), Diane Buchanan Rodgers (Donald Rodgers), Debbie Buchanan Bartlett (Timothy Bartlett), Donna Buchanan Tumer (Carney Tumer), Ginger Buchanan Newberry (Timothy Newberry); and nephew David Blackwood Sachs II (Allyn Sachs). The family would like to thank Summit Orthopaedic Home Care and Summit Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to Judith.
