Lit a candle in memory of Judith Marie Wade

Truly saddened by the news of Judy's passing. We were all kids together, East Mansfield Bulldogs together. We are yet more than friends, we are the extended family. Judy was funny & fun to be around as kids. Her kindness & smile could make a bad day a 'lil easier to deal with. Wade,  Forsythe family my heartfelt condolences. Tony Walker.

I will miss Judy.  In 18 years, I have never seen her be impatient with anyone, even though she was always in high demand and had a lot of work to do.  When Judy came to your cubicle, you had her undivided attention, empathy, humor and technical expertise.

I was in a car accident in 2017 and off work for three months.  When I came back, the phone system was recently upgraded and everyone was having problems with it.  Judy took a lot of time with me, not just to fix my phone, but to make sure I was ok, and to encourage me when I was really in a lot of pain and depressed with the progress of my recovery.  

It wasn't just that she was good at her job.  She was wonderful with people: patient, kind, an excellent problem-solver, and someone who was always willing and happy to listen.

So many of us here at ODH are having a lot of problems with Judy's death, the way it happened, the national attention, the fact that the police have not found who was responsible, the granddaughter whose life she saved.  After the sorrow at her loss, I am left with the certainty that the best way to honor Judy is to be the kind of person she was. To do my job and live my life in such a way that other people's needs are not an interruption of my own, but an opportunity to help and to serve them.  It is difficult to live this when we all have our own moods and problems, like maybe a fight with a spouse, a sick child or parent, whatever emotional baggage we bring here to work with us.  The fact is, though, that people remember how you made them feel (I think Maya Angelou said that).  When I am gone, I want to be a good memory for the people I have left behind, just like Judy Wade.  We can all try to aspire to be the person Judy truly was.  That is a good tribute to her.
