Justine Johnstone Runyan

Justine J. Runyan, age 95 of Columbus, passed peacefully Thursday, March 30, 2017. Justine was born in Chesaning, Michigan, daughter of the late Leonard and Mildred Johnstone. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas B. Runyan, and brother, William Johnstone. Justine graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where she became a lifelong member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Justine was an intelligent, insightful, loving woman, always ready for a good meal and conversation with friends. Throughout his life, Justine’s late husband Thomas was very involved with the Masons and Justine herself was a constant supporter of the organization. She was also a Leader with Great Books, always striving to broaden her intellectual horizons. Justine was a talented artist with a tremendous love for art, including oil and pastel painting. Her other hobbies included sewing, reading, studying Eastern philosophy, and took up kayaking towards the end of her life. She will be greatly missed by her loving daughters, Janice (Bill Beatty) Runyan and Christine (Dennis) Carney; grandchildren, Jessica Carney, Drew Boehmer, and Sarah Carney; and other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 1-3 P.M. Sunday, April 9, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., followed by a memorial service beginning at 3 P.M. celebrating Justine’s life.
