

Pat was born June 30, 1928, in Zanesville, Ohio to John Willis (Jack) Shaw and Kathryn Wells Shaw. She was a graduate of “Lash” High School in Zanesville, OH, and Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, OH. The oldest of a family of six, she learned to love her four sisters and one brother. In September 1946 she went into nursing and continued her interest and worked 45 years. In September 1949, following her graduation, she married her sweetheart from high school, Robert D. Withers, and started working at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, OH. From there she worked at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, OH; Mt. Carmel East, Columbus, OH; Industrial Nurse at Crooksville China Co.in Crooksville, OH; school nurse in Wheelersburg, OH; and Office nurse for Galen Davis, MD in Columbus, OH. Patricia was active in the community as leader, board member and Vice President of Council for the Girl Scouts; volunteered with CAPA and Mt Carmel East in Columbus and with Venice Hospital in Venice, FL. Pat is a member of Beacon chapter Order of Eastern Star, Christ Hospital Alumni, Eastview United Methodist Church and Englewood United Methodist Church, Englewood, FL. In both churches she sang in the choirs. An avid sports fan, she loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds. Pat was formerly a member of Groveport Golf Club and Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Withers, former Kroger manager and merchandiser; her son John “Jack” Withers; her parents and three of her sisters - Marjorie "Margie" Strohacker, Phillis “Peggy” New, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Fleming. She is survived by two daughters - Kathryn Zimmerman and Mary Beth (David) Wyss; son James (Nancy) Withers; daughter-in-law Patricia Withers; her six grandchildren - Anne (Michael) Reed, Lt. Colonel Michael (Amanda) Zimmerman, Jessica (Brendan) Murphy, Robert (Caroline) Withers, Laura Wyss, Adam (Cayla) Wyss; 13 great-grandchildren; and by her sister Myrna Granger, brother J.W. Shaw, several nieces and nephews and many friends and relations. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5-8 pm and Friday, November 5, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 am at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, where funeral service will be held 11:30 am, November 5, 2021, immediately followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
