

Karen Elizabeth Carpenter, age 64, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Kobacker House surrounded by her family. She was born July 30, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Clarence Johnson who preceded her in death and Elizabeth Johnson Todd who survives. Karen is also survived by her husband, David Carpenter; former husband, Thomas L. Clark; daughters, Katherine Anne Clark and Elizabeth (Christopher) McNeely; grandchildren, Ella and Ryland McNeely; brother, Bruce L. (Rose) Johnson; niece, Sara (Jay) Moore; nephew, Jeffrey (Katie) Johnson; and many wonderful friends who supported her throughout her life and especially during her most recent illness. Karen was VP of Training, Mortgage Operations, J.P. Morgan Chase; AVP of Training, Nationwide Financial Services; AVP of Training, Huntington National Bank; Past President of the American Society for Training and Development Board; Past President of the Community Refugee and Immigration Services Board of Trustees; Past President of the Senior Repertory Theatre of Ohio Board; member of the Advisory Council of Shepherd’s Corner Farm and Ecology Center of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Active in her church, she sang in the choir, participated on many committees, and most recently chaired the Search Committee for the Associate Minister. She loved theatre and music. She co-founded with her husband, David, the Magpie Consort. She was awarded Best Director by the Theatre Roundtable of Central Ohio for the 2008 SRO production of Tuesdays with Morrie. Karen thanks her family and friends for all their love and support. A special thanks to Dr. Christopher Lutman and his team for all their caring and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to First Congregational Church, the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio, the Community Refugee and Immigration Services, or Shepherd’s Corner. A celebration of her life will be held with a visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at First Congregational Church 444 E.
