Katharine Ann Kowalski, 52, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born October 8, 1962 in Canton Ohio to Herbert H. and Katharine Ann Schaffner.
After attending GlenOak High School, Kathy received a degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Making Columbus her home, she built a successful design career, establishing her own company, Chapin Interiors. The Reserve, Lombard's Furniture and Romanelli and Hughes Builders all added to her incredible career. For the last 13 years, she was the in-house designer for Bob Webb Custom Homes. Kathy's vision and talent enabled her to create beautiful interiors for 3 BIA Parade Homes, and establish cherished relationships with private design clients. She was a member of the Building Industry Association and American Society of Interior Designers, Allied.
Along with her loving husband Chris, they became co-owners of Jack's Downtown Diner. They share a love for their two dogs, Bailey and Spike, traveling, gardening, entertaining and spending time with family on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, and have been active members of Marathoner's in Training, completing many races together.
Family was Kathy's priority. She is survived by her husband Chris; brother, Bob Schaffner (Beth, Avery and Katie) of Greenville South Carolina; sisters, Anne Meyer (Andy and Elizabeth) of Houston TX, Nancy Parmenter (Bob, Winston) of Lewis Center, and Sarah Schaffner of Columbus.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2014 at Xenos Christian Fellowship, 1390 Community Park Drive Café Auditorium, Columbus, OH 43229, where family will receive friends from 5-6 pm and immediately following the service.
