

Kathryn M. Douglas, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011. She was born in Everett, PA, on June 21, 1924, to the late Carl and Lillian Mobus. After graduating from high school, Kathryn attended business school and worked as a clerk for Dr. Schmelzer’s office. She was a member of the Ohio Eastern Star and Ladies Oriental Shrine. She was past secretary of the Mount Carmel Auxiliary, and she volunteered in the Mount Carmel West gift shop for over 20 years. Kathryn served as Judge of District 11E of the Election Board, and she was an Avon representative for more than 30 years. After years of offering her time to others, Kathryn was honored as a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. She loved to travel and visited many countries around the world, and she enjoyed ceramics and canning. She loved her dogs, and she loved the color purple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Douglas; and sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Jim) Stayer. Kathryn is survived by her children, Billie (Don) Strader and Steve (Sheryl) Douglas; brother, John (Patty) Mobus; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Rickard officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
