

Kathryn Tartal Smith, age 97, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Geneva, Ohio. She was born December 28, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Katherine and Joseph Tartal and is also preceded in death by her husband, Marlo F. Smith; and siblings, Frank Tartal (Bertha), Josephine Belmyre (Olin), Joseph Tartal (Helen), Martha Schneider (George), Mary LaValley (Earl), and John Tartal (June). Kathryn is survived by her son, F. Edward Smith (Valerie); daughter, Deborah K. Smith Kuhlman (Richard); grandchildren, Frank Smith (Audrey), Paul Smith (Sarah), Rick Kuhlman (Jeanine), Robin Kuhlman, Ben Kuhlman (Mary), Elizabeth Kuhlman Krimmer (Brian), Katy Kuhlman Dawson (Rodney), and Joe Kuhlman (Allison); great-grandchildren, Zelda, Gus, Lucy, Thomas, Emily, Madeline, Julia, Colin, Ella, Kaylee, Allison, Isobel, Evan, and Silas; and many dear nieces and nephews. Kathryn was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Gahanna Historical Society, Gahanna Art League, and Mt. Carmel East Auxiliary. She retired as Executive Secretary of the Wright-Patterson AFB Air Force Museum. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 17 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 18 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 807 Havens Corners Road, Gahanna. Fr. Daniel Swartz Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
