
From a young age, Konrad knew he wanted to dedicate his life to the natural sciences. In 1972, he obtained his Master of Science in Inland Fisheries from Agriculture University in Olsztyn, Poland. In 1976, he would earn his Ph.D. from the same university with his thesis “Utilization of On-Protein Nitrogen in Common Carp Nutrition”. In 1984, he obtained his Doctorate of Science from Agricultural University in Szczecin, Poland. His postdoctoral research led him to various places, such as The University of Ulster of Northern Ireland, The National Institute of Aquaculture Laboratory of Fish Nutrition in France, The University of Fisheries in Japan, the Institute of Zoology in Austria, and finally the Ohio State University, where he joined as a professor in 1989.
Konrad was a skilled researcher with a passion for education-both as a teacher and as a student. While his research took him from Peru to Egypt and everywhere in between, his family was a firm anchor in the Tatra Mountains of Southern Poland. Konrad and his family took trips to visit Poland frequently to keep the strong heritage he was proud of.
In addition to his parents, Konrad is preceded in passing by his brother, Krzysztof Dabrowski. He is survived by his daughter Kora Dabrowska (Brian) and her children, Bruno and Izabel. Konrad is also survived by his former spouse Henryka; Sister Krysztyna and her children Radek, Piotr, and Dorota; As well as many friends and students throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held for Konrad on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 2PM followed by a visitation until 5PM at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd, Columbus, OH 43221.
