Krystie was my cousin and while she was a bit older than me I always felt a special bond with her as I too am the only girl among 2 brothers.  I am amazed at the battle she waiged against cancer throughout her life.  She always remained strong and optimistic.    I can remember our families getting together for holidays as well as catching up with one another at Nana and Papa Russell's house in Genoa.  We always had  such a good time laughing and joking with one another.  She was such a kind and gentle person.  She always was thinking of others.  I am sad for my aunt and uncle as well as my cousins for I know how much Krystie meant to everyone.  While she is physically gone from our day to day existance she will NEVER be gone from our thoughts and memories.  We will all be reunited one day and the jokes and laughing shall return for us all.

Krystie was my "Big Sis" in the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Ohio State University.  We shared lots of great memories together, between football games, and sorosity and fraternity dances and parties.  After we graduated, Krystie has sent me a birthday card every single year.  She was so good at that.  I knew I could count on hearing from her twice a year - at Christmas and in March.  She was a wonderful person - very special to lots of people. Krystie was my closest friend for years in Naples, FL. We shared so many walks with our dogs Sara and Wolfgang around beautiful Olde Naples. She taught me so much about life during those years, that sustain and guide me even today. She was gentle and had only love to extend to all. Krystie so dearly treasured and loved her parents and often talked of the strength her mother gave her. I loved her deeply. I'm less this day because of her passing but greater for a lifetime for knowing her.

On behalf of the Hunt Family in San Diego and Nahiku, I wish to honor David Russell's sister.  David is a colleague of mine at API, and I know from the many references he had to his sister, she was a special and cherished person.  I am sorry for his loss, and for the loss to everyone who knew her.
Island belief is that a person is never really gone until the last person that knows her says her name for the last time.  From the tributes on this page, that will be quite a long time from now - cherish the memory.

Krystie was like a sister to me since that blessed day when two little 4 year blondies named Chris and Krystie met on Pamela Drive and became life-long friends. Playing in the woods and watching Cinderella at sleepovers, we were never apart.  Being in the military, I was the wanderer and she was the foundation.  Yet we wrote long letters faithfully and always made ways to get together on visits as we grew up.  High school was spent at each others towns for weeks at a time, giggling, fixing big hair, and liking boys. We became Buckeyes together, she was in my wedding, helped me raise my children, and was always the beautiful best friend.  My first and only cruise was with her, exploring islands and laughing at everything we saw, never acting our age.  As her health battles raged on, she never lost faith in her self or God, and she became my greatest strength.  I was so blessed with sharing girl time in New Orleans recently, and having so many memories up to the very end.  I saw her just 4 weeks ago at her home, smiling and laughing and sharing stories in her living room.  Our last hug and her waving as we drove off will always haunt me, yet comfort me, for I still did not believe it would be the last time I saw her smile.  She will forever be in my heart and soul.  I miss you so very much Krystie, but you will always be my strength and angel.  Chris Neely

Lit a candle in memory of Krystie Ann Russell

I worked with Krystie in Logan, Ohio.  My time with her was too short.  She was the most positive, sweet, and kind person I've known.  She made a lasting impression on everyone.  She loved her family and looked foward to playing the doting aunt whenever she could.  Everyone here knows how much her family and friends are grieving, because we know what we lost and how much we miss her.  In my thoughts and prayers, Kimberly Luca

Krystie and I worked together at Whitehouse Country Manor in Whitehouse and quickly became friends. Her smile and infectious laugh brought a smile to everyone she met. I will remember our shopping trips, and the day long tour of OSU campus when Ashley was touring colleges, ( why was our first stop the football players dorms!) I will pass on the gift that Krystie shared to all others in my life- the gift to live life to its fullest. My life would not have been the same without Krystie Russell.

Krystie and I met on our first day of work Oct 24, 1994. We were both dietitians starting a new consulting job at Hillhaven (now Kindred). We found we had alot in common including our birthdays (2 weeks apart), our love of warm/sunny places, dogs, and life in general. Krystie had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. While I was hot-headed at work she was even tempered.  Working with her and knowing her made me a better dietitian and a better person. I will truly miss her spirit, joy, and friendship.

For the past 30 years, Krystie and I have been friends.  She was the maid of honor in my wedding, and I couldn't have asked for someone who was as sweet and caring to be a better friend than she was.  She and I had many fond memories on our trips to Florida.  My heart aches over her passing.  Tom & Carrie--you have been such wonderful and supportive parents.  She would never had made it as far as she did without you.  She will be greatly missed.
