Lamonte Retz

He graduated from North High School in Columbus, attended The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree and served as an Electrical Engineer for Columbia Gas, where he worked until he retired. He loved traveling to Europe and taking cruises around the world. When he was home, he was painting pictures of his travels, gardening, taking care of his pet turtles and spending time with church, family and friends. He was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, and participated in regular Bible Studies as well as worship.

Lamonte will be greatly missed by his children, Geoff Retz (Susan), Jennifer Retz Battistone and grandchildren Abigail and Chelsea Retz and Emily, Ryan and Nicholas Battistone, his wife of 15 years, Sue Retz and her children and grandchildren, as well as many friends.

In addition to his parents, Lamonte was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Retz, parents Lamonte H. Retz, Sr. and Gertrude Retz.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a Memorial Service will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
