

Landon Rowe, age 83, passed away on August 10, 2019. He was born on June 19, 1936 in Iaeger, West Virginia to the late Dewey and Florence Rowe. Landon was widowed by his first wife Mary Julia, as well as his second wife Sandra Kay. He is also preceded in death by his siblings. Landon is survived by his sons, Stephen (Peggy), James (Natalie), and David (Barbara); step-daughter Patricia Aldrich; grandchildren, Jimmy, Joshua, Preston, Sophia, Alyssa, Kayla, and Joshua Halen; and great-grandchildren Giovanni and Briar. Landon gave over 50 years of dedicated service to White Castle Porcelain and Steel. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army. As shared by the Bluegrass Ramble, “Landon was part of the Columbus South Side bluegrass scene as documented by WOSU in its Neighborhood series. Landon will be remembered for his vivid memory of song lyrics and passion for the music. An enthusiastic banjo player; [on guitar] he was perhaps best known for his Lester Flatt thumb and first finger style strumming of his custom left handed Martin D-45.” Also, his vast knowledge of bluegrass songs and lyrics was greatly appreciated by many. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 6 - 8:30 PM at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH Funeral Home, where a Funeral Service will also be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 10 AM.
