

A funeral service, to celebrate the life of Langdon “Glenn” Hypes, 72, of Newark will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hanover Presbyterian Church, 732, N. Main St. in Hanover, with Rev. Charlsie Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Hanover Cemetery.
Glenn was born in Ramsey, WV on February 21, 1941 to the late Langdon Valdis and Evelyn (Hess) Hypes. He passed away at his residence on November 6, 2013 while surrounded by his loving family.
Prior to retirement, he was a district regional manager with Owens-Corning with 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an active member of Hanover Presbyterian Church. He was especially proud of being one of the founding members of “Lite the Night” car show in downtown Newark. He was a member of the Highway Masters Car Club and the Weekend Wanderers Car Club; He also enjoyed restoring, painting and collecting classic cars, boating, wood-working and he never knew a stranger and loved everyone he met.
Survivors include his wife, Karen (Phillips) Boring Hypes, whom he married on June 30, 2012; two daughters, Trina (Dennis) Sawyer of Newark and Teresa (Doug) Groves of Hebron; brothers and sisters, Phyllis (Harry) Daily of Drennen, WV, Bill (Nancy) Hypes of Johnstown, Howard (Judy) Hypes of Powellton, WV, Brenda (Sonny) Painter of Mt. Lookout, WV and Ronnie (Jill) Hypes of Frazeysburg; grandchildren, Jacqueline Sawyer, Reece Sawyer, Justin Groves and Austin Groves; one great granddaughter, Kylieah Groves; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda (Erskine) Hypes in 2007.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Glenn to Hanover Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
