

Larry A. Nagode DVM, MS, PhD emeritus professor, age 77 passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016. Larry was a Veterinary Pathologist who taught veterinarians at The Ohio State University. He specialized in research on the role of calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D in the therapy of chronic renal disease of dogs and cats. He retired in 2006 with over 35 years of service. But never quit studying and teaching. He was a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). His favorite pastimes were skiing and being a poker player. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth Nagode. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole of 40 years; children, Patricia (William) Nagode Shively, Russell (Karen) Nagode; grandchildren, James Robertson, Cindy Robertson, and Zoe Nagode; siblings, Lois Nagode Lotis and Clinton (Sally) Nagode; many nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces; poker buddies, Joe, Roger, Rich, Tim, and Jack along with veterinary colleagues from around the world and numerous dog and cat owners who seek his advice in caring for their pets. Family will receive friends from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016.
