Lela Smith, age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Kobacker House. Lela was born on July 6, 1963 in Talladega, Alabama to Willie Smith and Alberta Allen. She was a longtime resident of Park West Court Apartments, where she participated in the SAGE workshop. Lela enjoyed listening to music and the color purple. Preceded in death by her mother, Alberta Allen. Survived by her father, Willie Smith; sisters, Jessica Smith, Angela Diop and Angela Wilson; nieces, Lanitra (Nickkie) Smith, Yasmin Elmore, Mykhala Campbell and great niece, Ivona Twitter; nephews, Rontravis McKenzie, Kadrin Robinson, Xavier Stewart, Desmond Wilson, Jainard Smith McBroom; other relatives and friends.
