Lena S. Martin

Lena (Bonaventura) Martin, age 87, dearly loved aunt and friend, passed away, September 9, 2011 at The Woodlands of Columbus. Daughter of Archangelo and Ersilia Bonaventura. Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Martin; and siblings, Marion (June), Louis (Judy), Angelo (Virginia), and Leo Bonaventura, Mary (Angelo) Marchi, and Elsie (John) Hatem. Lena will be missed by numerous loving nieces and nephews. “Aunt Lena”, as she was so affectionately known, was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. As a young girl, she worked in the family grocery store on St. Clair Ave., and later helped her brother at Bonaventura Florists. Her love of family and baking was only preceded by her faith in God. Lena’s family would like to extend thanks to the caring staff at The Woodlands and Heartland Hospice. Family will receive friends Friday September 16, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2692 E. Fifth Ave., Columbus, Rev. Fr. Denis S. Kigozi, Celebrant.
