Leo Joseph Mitchell, 91, died Friday, June 24, 2010 at The Sanctuary, Dublin. Born to Bernard and Martha Mitchell, February 18, 1919 in New Straitsville, OH. Preceded in death by wife Margaret “Buzz” (Callahan) Mitchell. Survived by daughter Sally Ellen (Doug) Rader. Known throughout and dedicated to his hometown of New Straitsville. A veteran of World War II and a graduate of The Ohio State University, Leo had numerous small enterprises as well as a 20-year career with the Logan Office of The Bureau of Workers Compensation. Leo was a devoted husband and father, and a fiercely independent man who gave quietly and generously of himself to his neighbors and community. Accepting help did not come as naturally to Leo as did giving, but he was grateful to the many friends, neighbors and caregivers, especially Lynn & Loraine Spires, Doug Newman, and Dr. Mark Buddie and the staff at the Sanctuary who enabled him to carry on as autonomously as possible in later life. Thanks also to the wonderful caregivers at Odyssey Hospice for making his final days comfortable and peaceful. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of I-270). A private burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, do a good deed without recognition and take some time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, or make a donation to the Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing 4880 Tuttle Road Dublin, OH 43017 or Odyssey Hospice 540 Officenter Place S-100 Gahanna, OH 43230.
