Lisa Chakroff was born in Middletown, Connecticut on October 31, 1956 and died in Columbus, Ohio on April 26, 2018 at the age of 61, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father Albert Roberts. She is survived by mother Margo Pritchard; brother John Roberts; sons Jason and Ryan Chakroff and daughter Devan Chakroff.
Growing up in Connecticut, Lisa was a straight A student and a bit of a "tomboy". She claimed to frequently outshine her brother in athletic activities throughout her youth, although he does not remember it that way. Lisa was also an avid singer/guitarist, and she started playing at local venues as a teenager. Although she stopped playing live events after college, she continued playing for herself, family, and friends throughout her life. Lisa attended Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.
After graduating, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she met Chris, whom she married in 1983. After purchasing a house together in Worthington, she had her first son, Jason. Soon after came her second son, Ryan, followed by her daughter, Devan. While pregnant with Ryan, she graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work.
Lisa went on to work for the Starr Commonwealth Hannah Neil Center for over twenty years as a social worker, where she provided counseling to child and adolescent survivors of sexual abuse. After Starr Commonwealth ceased its operations in Columbus, Lisa took a job with Youth Advocate Services, where she continued her counseling work until her passing. Through her years of service at both organizations, Lisa was able to provide help, support, and hope to hundreds of children. She truly loved her work and couldn't have seen herself doing anything else.
In her free time, Lisa enjoyed skiing and frequent trips to the beach with her family. She enjoyed many smaller things as well, such as her weekly viewings of "The Voice", attending her children's athletic events, or just relaxing on a patio with friends on a sunny day. Through her children's school and extracurricular activities, she became part of an incredibly close-knit group of friends in Worthington, with whom she loved to spend time traveling, gathering, and celebrating special events and holidays. Through hard times, this group became a second family to her. They provided her with support, encouragement, and comfort until the very end.
Lisa lived a fulfilling, impactful life, and was passionately devoted to making the world a better place for those in her care. Although her life came to an end far too early, her surviving family and friends take solace in the fact that she is finally at peace. She will be dearly missed.
