

Following her graduation from Hayes Center H.S. Lois proceeded, in 1961, to earn an Associate of Arts degree from McCook Community College in McCook, NE. In 1964, upon receiving a B.S. in Education & Music degree from Chadron State College, Lois taught in the high school of Goodland, Kansas. In 1965 Lois married Michael Chipperfield and moved to Indiana where she taught high school in Merrillville and later in Martinsville while earning, in 1968, a Master’s of Science in Business Education degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana. Lois then lived for two years in Columbia, Missouri before moving, in 1971, to Columbus, Ohio.
In 1977, Lois began teaching in the Columbus Public Schools and from 1978 until her retirement in 2004 she taught computer education at the Ft Hayes Career Center. Lois was selected as Columbus Public School’s teacher of the year for 1983-84.
Lois married Robert "Tim" Hottinger on 9/28/2011 and after retiring, they maintained residency in Columbus & Bradenton, Fl.
In addition to her husband Tim, Lois leaves behind two daughters: Amber (Rex) Robbins and Chanda (Scott) Foster; six grandchildren: Autumn, Scarlet, Stihl, Alexander, Bodhi, and James; two sisters Sonya Pelzer (Ron) and Pamela McConville (Don); brother Steven (Barbara) Romersheuser; former husband Michael Chipperfield and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends for viewing and visiting from 9:30-11am on Friday, March 4th, at Cross Point Christian Church, 10659 Johnstown Road, New Albany, OH 43054, where a Celebration of Life service will follow immediately at 11am. Family will privately process to Sunset Cemetery for a 1pm committal service (invitation only). As you may know, Lois loved bright colors! Guests are encouraged to wear joyful colors as we come together to celebrate Lois’ life.
