I'm going to miss Lori and the long conversations we had every time we saw each other at work. I wanted to share this email I received from a student: 

"I don't know if this would be okay or not, but her sons should know that Mrs. Borchert would always talk about how proud she was of them and she would mention their accomplishments to us in class. She would always talk about how proud she was of them academically, athletically and how tremendous they were as young men. She even told us funny stories about them as kids. She loved them and loved talking about them. Ask anyone else in our class and they'll say the same thing."

I have many memories of Lori, and one of the things I will remember most about Lori is her quick wit!  She could sum up a situation quickly,  and deliver a ,"Zinger", before you could blink your eyes ! She had me in stitches often! She of course was extremely bright, and I know my Alex appreciated her tutoring for his economic class which she gladly did.  Most of all, I will remember her strength . Times were often not easy for her , but she did not complain or give up. That she survived for six years,  when she was given only six months to live, speaks volumes to her make up . She was a dear friend, and I will miss her very much . What I choose to remember from Lori is the look on her face after she delivered one of her "zingers" !   Priceless !!

Semesters in which we taught on the same day Lori would always come to my office and we would chat. Chat about the concepts of the day, frustrations over how students had difficult times with some concepts, what our kids were doing and more. She was so proud of each of her sons! Baseball games, roommates, law school and job offers...they were a shining light for her. I will miss those discussions and her dearly,

Lori will be greatly missed. Although I have not seen her in a fairly long time, I remember quite clearly how dedicated she was to her discipline and to her students. Economics is not an easy subject to teach (or learn) but Lori provided her students with incredible support. She was a good friend to other faculty as well.

Danny and Jon, we were so sad to hear about your mom. We have many fond memories of holidays and gatherings with the 2 of you, Jen and your mom. Our hearts go out to you. We'd like to make a donation in your mom's name and continue to honor Jen. At some point, if you're able , could you provide an address. Thank you so much. You've been through so much in your young lives. Peace and light to you.
