
Lori Kauffman Faison, 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Kobacker House, Columbus, Ohio. Lori was born in Columbus, Ohio, graduated from Brandywine High School in Wilmington, DE, and received BA and MSW degrees from Bowling Green State University.
For nearly 40 years she lived in San Diego and Poway, CA, and has left behind an impressive legacy of compassion and advocacy for children with disabilities and their families.
Over the course of 20 years, she served as one of the directors of the successful, inclusive summer camp for children with disabilities at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in La Jolla, CA. Her commitment to helping individuals with disabilities as they built fulfilling lives was her guiding force, and the lives she touched were innumerable. Her spirited compassion for others also extended to her family and friends and demonstrated her selfless love for others.
Lori is survived by her three sons: Riley (Dale City, VA); Adam (Los Angeles, CA); and Trevor (Columbus, OH); her mother, Violet Jean Kauffman of Columbus, OH; four siblings: Jeff (Laura) Kauffman of Atlanta, GA; Linda Kauffman of Charleston, SC; Corinne Garvey of Columbus, OH; and Tad (Rose) Kauffman of Port Richey, FL. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as long-time friend and companion, Bruce Young, of Wilmington, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley C. Kauffman.
A celebration in her honor will be held Sunday, January 8th, at 1:00, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212.
