

Louis Joseph Castelli, 66, of Galena, passed away on January 11, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on September 17, 1953 in Harrison, New York, to the late Vincent and Antoinette (Catania) Castelli. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Constance Arndt.
Lou graduated from the College of Charleston in 1982 with a BS in Accounting. Lou had a successful professional career. He bought failing businesses and turned them into successful ventures. From his very first deli he opened as a teenager, to businesses dealing with brick glazing to graphic design to stainless steel equipment, Lou had the ability to see success in things that many others did not.
In his free time, Lou enjoyed doing many things; he was a woodworker, avid reader, and poet. He attended poetry workshops at Kenyon College, and went on to self-publish three books of poetry. He was also generous with his time and truly cared about others. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Big Brothers Big Sisters, served as the chairman of the board at BalletMet, and was involved with Darkness to Light, an organization focused on the prevention of childhood sexual abuse.
Lou also enjoyed collecting comic books from childhood. He loved Italian food and living out in the country in Galena, Ohio. Lou and Barbara would often travel to visit their daughters in Ann Arbor, Boston, and Charleston, SC, and they spent every Fourth of July in Ocean City, NJ with his twin brother and their families.
Lou will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Castelli; children, Tedi Engler, Danielle Castelli, and Alexandra (Brandon) Stokholm; granddaughter, Maxine Engler; 5 siblings; and 15 nieces and nephews.
A funeral celebrating Lou's life will be held at 10AM Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge Street, Dublin OH, 43017. The family will receive friends on Friday January 17, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00, at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street.
