

Louise G. Mand, age 89, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born on December 10, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late James Madison and Mary Louise (Brown) Graham. She loved her family, husband, children and friends deeply and felt incredibly fortunate to enjoy a full life, well lived.
Louise, aka Chuckie, attended Penn State University where she received her degree in special education. Following college Louise worked as a full-time teacher for Devereux. She traveled to Maine to work at the Devereux Foundation’s Emotional Disturbed Adolescent Residential Unit on Embden Pond where she met her husband, Charlie. Louise dedicated her life to her husband and children, she was the heart of their homes in both Ohio and Maine which were always filled with laughter, love, friends and great food. She kept the door open, a place at the table and a warm welcome ready for anyone. Louise enjoyed music, art, cooking, travel, dogs, sports, dancing, the energy of a big city, the peace of lake life, and was always on the hunt for antiques on rainy days in Maine.
Louise will be greatly missed by children Jocelyn Shaughnessy, Christopher (Michelle) Mand, M.D., and Vanessa (Paul) Hannah; 6 grandchildren, Ryan (Sadie) Shaughnessy, Alison and Carmen Mand, Will, Jack, and Alex Hannah; 3 great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Charlie and Bodie Shaughnessy; sister-in-law Valerie Graham; many nieces, nephews, a wonderful extended family and special lifelong friends.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Charles L Mand; brothers James and William Graham, sister-in-law Barbara Graham; Aunt Margaret Graham Sellman, cousin Margaret Sellman DeTroia; brother-in-law Joseph Coulon, sister-in-law Marion (Mand) Coulon.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family is honoring Louise privately.
