Lucky Lee

He was born in Columbus, attended North High School in 1945 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, March 1945; serving in the 144th Seabee Battalion in Western Pacific Operations during World War II. He then attended Bliss Business College.

Lucky always loved music, calling square dances with Lucky Lee’s Dance Band throughout the greater Columbus area during the 40’s and 50’s primarily at the I.O.O.F. Country Club, Gahanna, OH where he met his beloved wife Betty, July 1946. Betty and Lucky were married August 8, 1948 at The Linden Church of Christ.

He retired as Operations Manager at Conrail Railroad, Hilliard, OH after 33years and then worked as a Locomotive Consultant for Union Tank Car, Chicago, IL and Silcott Railway, Worthington, OH.

Member of the Masonic Order; Linden Lodge 0637 F. and A.M., 55 years, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, member of Karl Road Baptist Church, 58 years, and The Orbiting Squares Square Dance Club.

Preceded in death by his parents Homer and Martha (Schirtzinger) Lee. Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Betty; son, Robert (Beverly) Lee, Powell, OH; grandchildren, Cory Lee, Jackson, WY, Anthony (Jennifer) Lee, Powell, OH, Andrea (Calo) La Mattina, Jackson, WY; great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Levi and Isaac; brother-in-law, Paul (Diane)Seitz, Birmingham, AL; niece, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna, OH, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013, Rev. Richard Breusch, officiating. Interment Mifflin Twp. Cemetery where full military honors will be presented.
