

Lydia Anne Reiber Strehl passed on July 16, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio due to complications from COVID-19. She was born August 26, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Arthur J. Reiber and Gertrude Seiferth Reiber. Lydia graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1954 from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University), where she made several lifelong friendships and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1962, Lydia graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master of Social Work degree.
Lydia's career spanned over 35 years in social work and mental health services, including: Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh on a National Institutes of Health Research Unit; St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh; Family and Children's Services in Canton, Ohio; Massillon State Hospital, where she became department head; and, the Richland County Board of Mental Health. Lydia was a member of St. Christopher Church in Grandview, Ohio, and a former member of its Altar and Rosary Society.
Lydia married Charles B. Strehl, deceased 1999. She is survived by their daughter, Christine E. Strehl and grandson Isaac Highben of Columbus, Ohio; her brother Arthur J. Reiber, Jr. (Charlé), niece Stephanie Reiber Morris (Andrew), great-niece Maggie, and great-nephews Ben and Jake, all of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Uncommonly independent, Lydia will be missed for her good advice, her unique outlook on life, and her devoted love of family.
