We couldn't ask for a nicer neighbor. She was such a comfort when I was going through my cancer treatment. Her strength and kind words meant so much. We will miss her.

Lit a candle in memory of Madge Lydia Rose

To Madge's family,esp my patient Melanie Tullett and her family,
My  name is Beth Boyles . I am an OB Gyn at Riverside.  Mage was a part of my career life from day one of residency.She taught me an enormous amount of practical medical  information, but an even larger amount of practical "life " lessons.  
Madge Rose is a legend in the labor and delivery world.  no one had more experience.She had seen it and done it all before .  Any of us the that have worked with her know of her ability to "contour" up contractions by massaging the uterus.  she was the keeper of the recipe for "twilight labor" which she kept taped inside her locker .  I KNEW that my patient would deliver when  she was my patient's nurse. 
She treated every patient the same way -- with respect and in a no nonsense manner.  I often discussed her cross stitch projects and enjoyed finding her new  complicated patterns to challenge her .  I am honored to have taken care of her grandsons wife during her recent pregnancies.

I loved that woman and will never forget the valuable lessons she taught me .
I am happy for her to join her husband in her new painless life.

At a time like this there is no words that can truly express ones pain. Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of love. The only way to take the pain out of death would be to take the love out of life. As you mourn, be at peace with the knowledge that Madge's spirit is with family/friends whom she has loved and missed. They also loved her and have missed her. I know that physical death is only temporary. We all have the promise of resurrection and we will all be together again.

To Madge's Children
My name is Sharon Johnson Miller and I am writing to you to express my sympathy at your mother's passing.
I worked with your mother many years ago at OSU Hospital in Labor and Delivery.  She was a great help to all of us new, inexperienced nurses.  She was always ready with a smile or a joke.
She shared little anecdotes about her family at home, but she also had her work family where she mothered us along with our medical residents.
It was a pleasure to have known her.

I have so many wonderful memories of working and being with Madge!  I, too, came to Labor and delivery when Madge was at the helm (evening shift) and quickly came to appreciate the Nurse and love the person.  She was so straight-forward; how many of you doctors and nurses remember her when presented with a problem putting her hands on her hips and saying; "oh, for crying out loud!"  Then off she'd go and get things in order.  I admired her compassion with couples, her way of giving them confidence with a new baby, but most especially those who suffered a loss.  She contributed so much to the nurse I am today.  What a rich blessing she has been to so many of us......
I have a lovely pink Queen Elizabeth rose bush in my yard she gave me.  My very favorite gardening tool she recommended.  Madge gave me a darling water kettle and taught me how to make a "proper pot of tea".  In my study is her beautiful photo of Haley's Comet.

Madge....you were the first person I met when I started my first rotation as a "Med-3" (third-year medical student) at OSU's L&D.  I remember walking through the double doors to L&D and saw you standing in the middle of the hallway with your hands on your hips looking at m.  I slowly approached and said "Hi, I'm Larry Nyeste, a Med-3, and I don't know what I'm supposed to do.  You gave me a hug and quickly ushered me into the nurses' room and made me recite to them what I had just said to you!.  They cheered.  You later explained that other medical students came onto L&D with "an attitude and thought they knew everything"; I was the first to admit my ignorance. For that month and my subsequent 4-yr OB-GYN residency at OSU, you taught me at least as much about the science as did my instructors, staff and books.  I loved the way you love the patients, regardless of their social status or ethnicity.  I'm sorry that you are no longer caring for patients; I am happy that you can be with Bill again.  God bless you, Madge; rest in peace.
