

Madonna B. Rak, age 77 long time resident of New Albany, passed away October 21, 2010. Madonna was born and raised in Newport, Ohio, daughter of the late, William and Emma Bergman. Also preceded in death by her husband, James Rak, son, Karl Rak, and siblings, Mary Tribbie, Ivolyn Bergman, Rita Bergman, Jerome “Jay” Bergman, and Charles “Chas” Bergman. Madonna attended The Ohio State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics and a circle of lifelong friends known as the Canfield Classy Cats. Building on her test kitchen internship, Madonna had the opportunity to work all over the country and in Canada hosting and presenting kitchen demonstrations. She was a fabulous cook, and throughout the years, her meals were something that brought her family together. She was a founding member of Church of the Resurrection, member of numerous card clubs, a travel club, and enjoyed arts and crafts. She will be missed by her sons, James Rak and Michael (Christina) Rak; grandchildren, Rachel, Marissa, and Avery Rak; brothers, Cyril “Sib” (Ann) Bergman and William “Biff” (Rita) Bergman; her dear "Tribbie Tribe" and many other extended family members and good friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin Granville Rd., New Albany. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M.
