Mahala M. Browning

Mahala M. Browning, age 69, received her butterfly wings on Friday, January 28, 2022 so she could joined her husband in heaven. Mahala was born on July 21, 1952 in Logan, West Virginia to Steve and Ida (Bartoe) Darby. Mahala retired after 30 years from the State of Ohio as an Administrative Assistant at Twin Valley Behavioral Health. Where she was active & volunteered in the Employee Action Counsel. Mahala loved to garden, flowers and sewing. She was an avid bowler where she bowled on several leagues. She was President of the Slut Puppy Club. Mahala will be remembered as being the ROCK of the family. She was always taking care of others by giving them advise or cooking cole slaw and cabbage rolls. Preceded in death by her love of her life her husband of 52 years, Charles Browning on January 22, 2022; her parents; daughter, Christina Marie Browning Kocheran; siblings,Cathy, Nancy, Bill and Steve Darby. Survived her daughters, Michelle Bartoe and Heather Browning; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Cole) Shafley, Sarah and Ryan Kocheran, Charles Browning (Kristina Fritz), Chandler Browning (Marie Montgomery), and Rickey Lynn; great grandchildren, Emery, Oliver and Tyler Shafley; Charles II and Kalli Browning; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews including, Gary and David Darby; and special friend, Sam Vest and Gary Carter. Family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Heart and Hope Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association.
