
September 27, 1936 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and
Mary Margaret Lally.
Margie graduated from St. Joseph Academy and West Liberty College with a degree in
education. After beginning her teaching career in Wheeling, she began working for the
Department of Defense and spent most of her career as a reading specialist, teaching in
Italy. She was a dedicated teacher for her students and worked at multiple levels in the
teachers union to advocate for the rights of teachers. Margie loved to explore new
places throughout Europe, hiking and visiting historical places and Catholic churches.
She enjoyed a tight-knit friend group of teachers who enjoyed traveling together,
drinking wine, dancing, and going to movies. Margie liked exercising regularly, loved to
be with people and was active in the Catholic church.
Margie took joy in trips back to the US to visit family each Christmas and sum mer. She
is survived by brother-in-law Bill Kammer, nieces Sally Buckles and Amy Schaefer, and
nephews Dennis, Kevin and Brent Lally, in addition to her grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, nephew Patrick Lally, brothers Joe
and Bill Lally, and sister Ann Marie Kammer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection located
at 6300 E. Dublin Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054, with Father Denis Kigozi
officiating. Interment will follow at 2PM at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia.
