Maribeth Taylor, age 69, died at her home on October 16, 2012 after a long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Maribeth was born September 14, 1943 in Huttonsville in the Tygart valley of Randolph County, West Virginia where she had an ideal childhood growing up in a rustic setting deep in the woods and mountains. At school she was the prettiest girl and smartest student in her classes, graduating high school as valedictorian. Maribeth received a scholarship to Glenville State University where she majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics and in her senior year was voted Homecoming Queen. Upon graduation, Maribeth took employment with Chemical Abstracts Service where she remained for 44 years until her retirement as a Senior Associate Scientific Information Analyst. Maribeth had many interests and many friends and anyone who knew her knew her to be an absolute sweetheart, and if for nothing else, Maribeth will always be remembered as a gourmet cook who was generous when sharing her creations. Preceeded in death by her father, Russell; mother, Frances; and brother, Kennison Taylor. Survived by her husband, James Maxwell; sister, Shelby (Richard) Halstead; several nieces and nephews; and her special kitty, Boo. Maribeth and her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Wexner Medical Center, The James Cancer Hospital, and especially Doctor Kari Kendra and the team at Multimodality at the Martha Morehouse Center, Doctor Michael Adolph and the team at Palliative Medicine, and the nurses and staff at HomeReach Hospice for all of their hard work and excellent efforts on Maribeth’s behalf. Per her request there will be no service, but please take the time to listen to the song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and have a good cry. If you wish, donations may be made in Maribeth’s memory to: Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Rd., Columbus, OH 43214, The Open Shelter, Inc., 61 E.
