Marilyn was born July 11, 1936 in Columbus to the late Cloyd and Vera (Walters) Babbert. After graduating from Linden McKinley High School in 1955, she became a telephone operator for Ohio Bell for a number of years. On October 7, 1972 she married Hershell "Gus" Huffman, who survives. She retired from Ohio Laborer's Fringe Benefits Program as an administrator. Marilyn loved to dance, especially to Bluegrass, and tell jokes. As a cancer survivor, she kept her doctors laughing and rang the bell after her final treatment louder than anyone had before her. She attended Havens Corners Church and was a member of the Red Hatter's Society. Her proudest accomplishment was her 33 years with AA and the battle she won through her involvement with this group.
Marilyn will be missed by her husband of 42 years, as well as her children Scott Huffman and Shawn (Denise Arbogast) Huffman; brother Lee Messer; sister-in-law Betty (Eddie) Mayes; brother-in-law Arthur (Judy) Huffman; special friends Robert Galloway and Dottie Kane. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister Clover (Wallace) Walls; special friend Charlotte Galloway; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law as well as several niece sand nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna form 2-4 and 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at Havens Corners Church, 6696 Havens Corners Rd., Blacklick with Pastor David Allison officiating.
