

Marilyn K. Sandusky, age 68, passed away at Scioto Community Nursing Home on February 3. The only child of Charles Frederick (1911-1970) and Alta Marjorie (Welch) (1924-1999) Sandusky, Marilyn began her career at Lazarus, followed by the Ohio Dept. of Economic and Community Development. A lifelong learner, Marilyn decided to extend her formal education and at age 34 started at Ohio Wesleyan University, followed by the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She then focused the rest of her career in positions that allowed her to make her passion her profession, serving God's children as a pastor, a teacher, and working with the formerly homeless.
Marilyn had a strong faith and was a lifelong member of New Horizons (formerly Briggsdale) United Methodist Church. Before hospitalization and moving to the nursing home she was active in the Greater Hilltop Area Shalom Zone.
Marilyn was an avid reader with a passion for mysteries and suspense and she donated her extensive library to Scioto Community. A memorial service will be held at New Horizons United Methodist Church 1665 Harrisburg Pike, Columbus, OH 43223 at 11 am on Saturday April 30, 2016 with Pastor Danny Dahl and Pastor E. Eugene Brundige officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Contributions may be made to the Greater Hilltop Area Shalom Zone and sent to New Horizons United Methodist Church in Marilyn's name.
