Marilyn W. Smith

Marilyn W. Smith, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away July 1, 2025. She was born on July 10, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to the late W. Ralston and Helen (Siegwald) Westlake. Marilyn joins her parents and siblings, David Westlake and Diane Poston, in death. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Gary Smith; son Bart (Belinda) Smith and daughter Shelley (Bill) Luchene; Also surviving are grandchildren Jarod, Colin, Ryan (Rachel) and McKenna. Marilyn was a member of St. John's Lutheran in Grove City, Ohio for many years, where she was active in the knitting club. She was famous for making baby blankets, quilts, Christmas stockings, and prayer shawls to be donated to friends, family, local hospitals and those in need. She also loved to bake, cook, vacation in Myrtle Beach, and attend the Memorial Golf Tournament. Marilyn was also loved by her extended family and friends at the West Broad Street Roosters, where she and Gary would visit every week. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio at 700 Children’s Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43206. There will be an informal Celebration of Life gathering Thursday July 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran at 3220 Columbus St. Grove City, OH 43123. Casual attire is encouraged, though all will be welcome.
