

Martha Jane Dickson, age 84, passed away at Friendship Village of Columbus on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was born in Cambridge, Ohio, on November 1, 1927, to the late Zackary and Erma Boyd. She was a graduate of Cambridge High School, and she worked for 25 years as a sales manager for World Book Encyclopedia. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Donald Andrew Dickson; brother, Bernard Boyd; nephew, JD Hanes; and sisters-in-law, Louise Boyd and Gerry (Doyle) Hanes. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Charles) Depondt, Susan Dickson, and Amy Dickson; grandchildren, Max Depondt, Claire Depondt, and Chloe (Joe) Rarey; great granddaughter, Zoey Jane Rarey; niece, Erma Kelley; nephews, Bernard (Sue) Boyd and Ted Boyd; and countless friends, including special daughter Sharon Ware and special son Scott Hurlburt. Jane was an active member of Shady Lane Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Amazing American Women where she portrayed such roles as Dorothea Dix and Jane Adams. She started the group Reconnecting Our Community, and was a member of many other groups and organizations. She also enjoyed traveling, especially on Elderhostel trips with her good friend, Shirlie Drenton. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Shady Lane Presbyterian Church, 4117 E. Livingston Ave. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
