

Martha Ann (Conley) Howard, age 78, died May 20, 2012. She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving son, Edwin W. (Pam) Howard and grandson, Eric Justin (Keesha) Howard; sisters, Margaret (Chuck) Webb and Maudie Lee Weaver, along with many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Martha was born in Salyersville, Kentucky, grew up in Galloway, Ohio and attended Grove City High School. She married Edwin E. Howard in 1952 and moved to Washington DC. They had two children, Edwin W. and Deborah Lynn Howard. Called Martie by her friends, she managed Buckeye Optical at Great Eastern Shopping Center in Columbus for 16 years. She loved her job because she loved meeting people. She once repaired the signature eye glasses for singer John Denver at her store. A free spirit at heart, Martie moved to Key West Florida when she fell in love with Hal Godwin, her partner for 26 years. Martie loved the sunshine, the beach and riding her moped all over the island. She also lived in Franklin, Tennessee and currently resided in New Carlisle, Ohio. She loved to travel, making numerous trips cross country to California. Mostly she loved her great-grandchildren, Kayla, Keenan and Eyan Howard. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Deborah Howard; parents, Pearlie and Wallace Conley and her sister, Mary Campbell. Family will receive friends 6-8pm Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123.
