Martha Ann Kennedy

Martha earned her Bachelors of Arts from Otterbein University, and went on to earn her Masters of Science in Psychology from Walden University, after presenting a thesis on "Forgiveness". After graduation, she entered the workforce. She worked for multiple employers and in multiple fields, including working at a nursing home, a warehouse, and at Bank One and Chase as a collections and fraud specialist, before settling into her career at Alliance Data. During her time there, she worked as a Training Manager, before earning promotions and moving up in the company. She also started a book club with other members of the Alliance Data team. Martha was working to become a life coach, focusing on positive psychology and sharing the power of positive thinking.

Martha will be remembered for her love- her love of music (especially Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Rush, and Techno music), her love of makeup (and her expertise doing smokey-eye), her love of animals, and most especially her love for her family. Martha was a dedicated Fiancé, Sister, Aunt, G-ma and Friend. She treasured and embraced every moment with those around her. She will be missed by her family, friends, and especially her fur babies, Hefe, Abby and Savannah.

Martha is survived by her sister Karen Kennedy and her husband Edwin Ykema; niece, Elizabeth Howick; nephew, Mark Parkinson; great niece and nephew, Nicholas and Molly Howick; loving fiancé, Donnie Mathews; stepchildren, Anna Mathews (Garrett Abbott) and Sarah Snyder; brother in law Patrick Howick; cousin Carolyn Raatz. She was known as Gma to her grandchildren, Wyatt Abbott, Nevaeh Keller and Asher Mathews. Like family she will be greatly missed by best friends Karla Washington, Jada Johnson-Evans, Leslie Male, Chris Brewer, Trish Carsey and Suhdir Ranganath. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Dorothea and nephew Andrew Howick.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 12:00pm-2:00 pm on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna OH 43230. with a service to follow at 2pm.
