
On Thursday, June 20, Martha Wiseley Loy, loving wife and mother of two, grandmother of 6, and great grandmother of 1, died peacefully at age 88. She lived a long, full life, first in Findlay Ohio, and for the last 57 years in Columbus Ohio.
She was preceded by her husband David Loy, parents Vera and Joe Wiseley, and her sister Margaret Randall. She is survived by her children Nancy (Tom Worley), and John (Kathy Zid), and by her grandchildren Pete and Kendra Worley; and Alex, Kristin, Eric, and Conor Loy; and by her great grandchild Cora Maria Schleich (Kristin).
Martha was an active and dedicated wife, mother and volunteer. She loved her husband shared his love of music, which took her to many concerts and operas. She was active with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Auxiliary (Lyric), supporting their love of music in Central Ohio.
Martha was an active member of the First Congregational Church for over 55 years, filling numerous volunteer roles, including both Children's and Adult Sunday School Class teacher.
Martha graduated from Denison University in 1953, and was active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Her love of Denison was clear by the many reunions she and David (also a graduate of Denison) attended, and by the amount of support they provided over the years.
Her love of Kappa also extended after college. She was an active volunteer, then a part time employee, at the Kappa Kappa Gamma National Office in Columbus.
When younger She and David would travel to Europe, and throughout the US, staying at some of the nicest resorts while on David's business trips. After retirement, Martha and David would go to Chautauqua NY almost every summer to enjoy the music, learning opportunities, and beautiful surroundings.
She loved gardening, and making apple sauce from the tree in the back yard on Glenn Ave. She specialized in roses and tomatoes.
Over the last few years she enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, looking at family photos, and hearing stories about all of their activities.
Martha will be interred at Union Cemetery at a private service.
Donations, in lieu of Flowers, can be directed to the Johannes Landscape Fund at the First Congregational Church.
