Martha Jeanne Williard

Martha Jeanne Williard, age 91, of Columbus, entered into eternal rest Monday, December 14, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born October 23, 1918, Urbana, Ohio. North High School graduate, 1936. B.S., music education, The Ohio State University, 1940. Member, Symphonic Choir and other university vocal music groups. Upon graduation, music director, Hillsboro Ohio Schools. Married William Franklin Williard January 2, 1946 and to this union had 3 children. Former member, Junior Division Symphony Club and AAUW Women’s Chorus. Member, North High Women’s Alumni Association, Clintonville Women’s Club, PEO Chapter N, Trinity United Methodist Church and National Embroiderers Guild of America. Preceded in death by parents, M. Ray and Madge Allison; husband, William Franklin Williard. Martha Jeanne will be missed by her daughter Susan B. Evans (Frank), Murfreesboro, TN; sons Gregg (Janet R. Karst) Williard, Madison, WI and Michael A. Williard, Riverside, IL; grandchildren Emily (Paul) Whisman, Salt Lake City; Matthew, Clarey and Jess Williard, Madison; Ava Williard, Riverside; great-grandchildren Elijah, Julian, Xavier and Dakota Whisman; cousin June White, Louisville, KY; and many devoted nieces and nephews. In addition to her lifelong devotion to the piano and singing, Martha Jeanne was a talented needle worker and bridge player. She loved spending time with her high-spirited and often irreverent family, for whom she exhibited inexhaustible patience, understanding and love. Her love for Will was beyond compare. She left a legacy of elegance, grace and fortitude to all who knew her. Memorial service 3:30pm Friday, December 18, 2009, Westminster-Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Ave., Columbus.
