

Marvin “Marv” Ray Wendell, 73, of Gahanna, OH passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 2, 1939 in Landisburg, West Virginia to the late D. T. and Bessie (Holliday) Wendell. Marv retired from Trans World Airlines after 44 years of service. He served in the US Army Trans Co. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose; Paul S. Lawrence VFW Post No 9857 and VFW Post No 4719. He became a Mason in 1980 of the 32nd degree and was a member of the Sunrise Lodge. Marv graduated from Nuttall High School in 1957. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, boxing, the Buckeyes, and his grandkids. Marv never met a stranger and always had a joke to tell or a story to share. Throughout his illness he had an incredible positive attitude. In addition to his parents, Marv was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Bryant. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret “Peggy”; his daughters, Sherri (John) Dierna and their children Lillie, Megan and Nick; Christina Wendell (Eric Fischer) and their children Jack and Piper; brothers, Elmer and Edward (Alice) Wendell; sisters, Gloria Gerrard and Brenda Parks; other family and close friends. A Memorial Service will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL,1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.) Gahanna, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 16 at Mifflin Township Cemetery.
