Mary M. Bracy, a shining beacon of hope and a true testament to the power of faith and perseverance, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 7, 1929, in Havelock, North Carolina, to the late Joseph and Martha Culley, she navigated life with remarkable strength and grace. After being raised in Yonkers, New York, Mary graduated from Yonkers High School, setting the stage for a life dedicated to service and compassion.
Mary devoted twelve years of her professional life to the New York Telephone Company and, in 1979, transitioned to the Ohio Telephone Company, where she enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring after twenty-two years of exemplary service.
In 1980, Mary found a welcoming faith church at the Pool of Bethesda. Under the guidance of Bishop Joseph White, her unwavering commitment and active participation touched countless lives. As a missionary, hospitality chairperson, and senior choir member, she generously shared her gifts and lovingly organized the bishop’s birthday banquets for many years, creating moments of joy and celebration.
Mary was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Joseph and Martha Culley; her brothers, Albert and James R. “Rudy” Culley; her adored sister, Dorothy Lee; her brothers-in-law, Theodore Lee and David Martin; her son-in-law, Jesse James Jenkins; and her beloved son, Theodore Godman Bracy, Jr.
Her legacy of love lives on through her beloved sister, Gillette Martin; her devoted sons, Daniel (Rose) Bracy, Garrett (Lavern) Bracy, Curtis (Rhonda) Bracy, and Gawain (De’Borah) Bracy; her caring daughters, Linda (Hearcel) Craig and Cheryl Jenkins; as well as a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her church family, and her dear friend, Elder Meta Chube.
