

A funeral service for Mary E. Dennis-Angle, 84 of Heath, will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Heath Christian Union Church, 80 Licking View Drive, Heath, with Pastor Neal Skiles and Pastor James H. Meacham officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mary was born in Newark on July 2, 1926 to the late Samuel J. and Margaret (Simmers) Morriss. She passed away on April 12, 2011 at the Heath Nursing Care Center.
Mary graduated from Newark High School, where she played the tuba in the marching band. Prior to retirement, she worked for Owens-Corning Technical Center as a secretary for 32 years. She also worked for Pharis Tire and Rubber Company for five years. She was the church organist and a member of the Heath Christian Union Church and a former member and church organist of the Buckeye Lake Community Church for 25 years. Mary was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s. Music was such an important part of her life that she played for several years at the Heath Nursing Care Center. She was accomplished at playing several instruments, including the organ, piano, mandolin, accordion and the tuba. Mary knew no stranger and loved everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her son and daughter, William E. (Tammy L.) Dennis of Thornville and Norma J. Downhour of Heath; six grandchildren, David Dennis, Nicole (Randy) Hilleary, Kelly Geller, Robert (Michelle) Walrath, Brandon Walrath and Joshua Downhour; six great grandchildren, Lauren, Chase, Jacob, Avery, Westin and Teagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James E. Dennis in 1997; her second husband, Willard W. Angle in 2005; 11 brothers and one sister.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to Heartland Hospice, 6500 Busch Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43229. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Family and friends may call at the Heath Christian Union Church on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM. Arrangements are entrusted to Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.
