Mary Katherine Hicks

Mary Katherine Hicks, of Grove City, passed away quietly on the 17th of June 2013. Mary was born August 14th 1928 in Circleville, Ohio, daughter of the late Emmitt and Bessie (Dawson) Morgan. Mary K grew up in Circleville and was active in the Trinity Lutheran Church and Choir. She was crowned Miss Circleville in the early 1940s. Mary K studied voice at Capital University before graduating in 1949 with an RN from the Lancaster-Fairfield School of Nursing, beginning a 41-year career as a nurse, culminating in her position of Nursing Supervisor at Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio. Even in retirement she continued to work as a nurse and care-giver; a life to which she was devoted. Her husband of 58 years, Edward T. Hicks, preceded her in death in 2009. She is survived by her brother Robert E. Morgan of Circleville; her children Marilyn (Clark), Pat and Kelly Hicks of Grove City Ohio and Basking Ridge New Jersey; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be forever missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday June 20, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4501 Hoover Rd., Grove City with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery.
