Mary E McFarland

Mary E. McFarland, 89, of New Holland, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Genesis Care Center in Circleville. She was born August 3, 1924 in Ringgold, the daughter of John and Blanche (Peters) Barr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Russell McFarland in 1999; and 15 brothers and sisters, including her twin brother, Glenn Barr. Mary was a member of Atlanta Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Walnut Twp. High School and was retired from the Savings Bank. After her day at the bank, Mary would return home and help her husband and son with the work on the farm. Mary enjoyed making ceramics, square dancing, and working word search, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was known to have a sweet tooth and especially enjoyed desserts loaded with whipped cream.

Mary is survived by her son John (Deb) McFarland of New Holland; 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Roxie) Barr of Ashville; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Hausman officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery.
