Mary E. Stevenson

Mary E. Owen Stevenson, 98, of Marion, formerly of Circleville, passed away Monday morning, October 19, 2015 in Marion. She was born in Marion County February 22, 1917, the middle child of Ivah (Trihaft) and Paul Owen. A graduate of LaRue High School, she received her RN from White Cross Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Mary was wed to Ralph B. Stevenson, Jr. on May 1, 1943 in Greenup, KY. They were married 36 years before his death on October 30, 1979. Mary worked as a nurse at Berger Hospital, Pickaway Manor and the GE Lamp Plant. She was a member of the Pickaway Co. Senior Center and volunteered with the American Red Cross for 19 years before moving back to Marion County in 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie Mae Nickel and Della Owen; and a brother, John P. Owen.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Donzil) Hall of St. Paris, Ohio and Becky (Dick) Hix of Prospect, Ohio; four grandchildren, Teresa (Tom) Brewer of Vandalia, Kara (Steve) Cook of DeGraff, Chip (Eileen) Hix of Sidney and Jason (Tracy) Hix of Prospect; six great-grandchildren; brother Preston Owen of Cardington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with Rev. Eileen Hix officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pickaway Co.
