Maxine McElroy Shields, 80, passed Monday, November 4, 2013 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was a faithful member of Jehovah’s Witnesses for nearly sixty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Shields; father, Joseph McElroy; mother, Elma McElroy; brother, Vincent McElroy; sisters, Shirley Honesty and Barbara Woodfork. She is survived by her son, Nathan Shields Jr. (aka Nate Muhammad); sisters, Wanda Ray and JoAnn (Joseph) Morrison; brothers, Ronald McElroy and Paul (Patria) McElroy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Private cremation services for family only by Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. A memorial service will be held at Longwood Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3900 Central Avenue. Cleveland, Ohio 44115 on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00pm.
