Michael John Myhal was a collector of historical Items. He shared the provenance of those items because he knew the history of them was important to understand, remember, and teach. History was his love, and his story is one of love as well. Love, first and foremost for the Lord Jesus Christ with whom he now resides, followed by the love of his wife of 61 years, Linda, that was by his side until she was able to send him off to eternity.
Those that knew him may be familiar with his regular reference to the “jewels in his crown.” Those jewels were metaphors for Linda and Mike’s sons and their families: Michael (Becky); Mark (Beth); Matthew; David (Tera); Adam —grandchildren Brittany (Nathan) Fenstermaker and Amanda (Michael) Boris; Ashley (Joshua) Drake and Christian (Christeen) Myhal; Isaac, Andrew, and Tabitha Myhal; Ethan and Eliana Myhal — and great-grandchildren Aaron, Norah, Sammy, and Emma Fenstermaker; Timothy Drake and Charleigh Myhal. He also leaves extended family.
81 years of life holds many twists and turns. Learning and working in the steel and rubber industry led to the opportunity to provide for his family by growing a business. He started by running presses with his oldest son, and TMI, Inc still employs many people to this day. There was always music around Michael. He sang for the Kenley Players in his youth and passed his musical talent on to many in the family that sing on in his stead. Mike loved flying and Navy and Army Air Corp history. He was a pilot like his father who passed before him and who flew in WWII. Michael typically flew a Piper Cub but once flew a vintage WWII plane with his son Matt, whom he now joins in flight among the clouds of heaven. He was also a bit of an author, writing Corps Badges of the Union Army in 1973 and penning tales on notepads to tell among friends at gatherings of history buffs like him. Later in life, while still enjoying buying and selling of militaria and antiques, the real focus became church and family. He served on the council of Jersey Baptist Church, and he loved to watch his grandkids in any activity in which they were engaged.
Michael Myhal lived a full life, a blessed life, and one that produced a legacy that lives on by his family. While he left this earth on February 7, 2024, history and his story will show that there are many more chapters to be written here and probably some stories told sitting on a recliner, holding a little dog like his Matty, living on a street of gold waiting to welcome the jewels of his crown.
Friends can join the family on March 9 at Jersey Church at 2 pm for a memorial celebration of life.
